The Communications – Municipal Projects Student is responsible to assist the departmental staff in the development and delivery of communications to enhance public and stakeholder awareness of Municipal Capital Projects, and Municipal Programs.

Compensation and Work Term

$17.45 to $18.94 per hour
May to August

Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or equivalent; plus some post-secondary education in economic development, communications or marketing would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in Customer Service role considered an asset
  • Verbal communication skills including courtesy, tact, discretion and explanation.
  • Written communication skills including grammar, spelling for proofreading, editing, and writing of reports and correspondence.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite’s InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop would be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building/relationship management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the composition of print and digital communication campaigns, letters, correspondence, and reports.
  • Assist with door-to-door communications regarding Municipal Capital Projects.
  • Assist with incoming phone calls from the public and provide information,  and/or direct as appropriate to department/contact.
  • Assist as required to provide administrative and clerical support to the department, including photocopying, scanning, faxing, filing, formatting of documents, distribution of information, mail and courier service administration, research information; relay communications on behalf of staff; arrange meetings.
  • Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and demonstrate understanding that their personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.
