The Program staff are responsible to assist in the planning, delivery and supervision of programs, and their participants, offered by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture; ensures compliance with HIGH FIVE® standards, the Health and Safety Regulations; and Municipal Policies and procedures.

$18.79 to $20.39 per hour
Qualifications
- Secondary Diploma preferred, high school students will be considered based on experience.
- Standard First Aid, CPR “C” with AED.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- HIGH FIVE ®: Principles of Healthy Child Development.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, knowledge of Active Net recreation software an asset.
- Plan the assigned programs in consultation with the applicable Coordinator; research any areas that may be unfamiliar to develop knowledge base and material to deliver; implement programs, organize and supervise all activities.
- Deliver the program in a positive and professional manner and supervise the participants, ensuring the safety of all participants.
- Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants; incorporate the principles of HIGH FIVE®, provide a welcoming youth friendly environment, be aware of and work with special needs of participants and report any difficult behaviour to the Supervisor, Recreation and Culture or Coordinator, Recreation and Culture
- Comply with the Child Guidance and Child Abuse Policies as outlined at staff training.
- Assist in the development of and guidance provided to Volunteers.
- Act as the liaison between the parent, child and Supervisor, Recreation and Culture or Coordinator, Recreation and Culture.
- Resolve operational conflicts in a swift and professional manner, taking into consideration operations, procedures and customer service standards.
- Responsible for cash handling related to admissions and registration; balancing cash, recording sales and managing day to day operations.
- Assist with setup/tear down of the gymnasium and program rooms.
- Knowledgeable of all Department Programs, Facilities and Parks and respond in a positive manner to questions and inquiries from the public.
- Advise the Supervisor, Recreation and Culture or Coordinator - Recreation and Culture of any problems related to equipment, programs or public inquiries.
- Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and demonstrate their understanding that their personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Recreation and Culture or Coordinator, Recreation and Culture or designate.
