Labourer - Water Division - Closing April 11, 2025
The Labourer is responsible for performing duties which support the Environmental Services division and employees in the fulfillment of their duties and functions.

Compensation
Compensation would be administered in accordance with the licensing requirements and the terms of the collective agreement. Union dues payable after thirty (30) consecutive calendar days. Operator will receive step 1 for less than one year or service, step 2 for more than one but less than two years of service, and step 3 for more than 2 years of service.
- Step 1 - 90% - $20.18
- Step 2 - 95% - $21.30
- Step 3 - 100% - $22.42
- High school education with achievement of Highschool Diploma
- Demonstrated similar work experience including the ability to perform physical labour outdoors for the duration of the shift.
- Adaptable, hardworking and co-operative work skills.
- Chain saw license, Traffic Control training, and a Trench safety and working at heights training would be considered assets.
- Valid and satisfactory ‘G’ drivers license is required.
- Valid and satisfactory Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check.
- Work is primarily outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.
- Heavy physical labour involving lifting, pushing and pulling of weight up to and sometimes over 40Kg.
- Assist employees with duties involving physical labour such as, but not limited to, ditch cleaning, cutting of grass, cutting and trimming trees, preparing the ground and seeding grass, debris and garbage pickup, loading and unloading vehicles, painting, digging/shoveling, raking, moving materials, installing and repairing signs and guide rails and related activities.
- Assist employees with duties involving physical labour related to maintenance and repair of Municipal assets such as, but not limited to, bridge and sidewalk repair, street patching, road repair, jack-hammering, pot hole filling and related activities.
- Assist employees with duties involving physical labour related to maintenance and repair of Municipal assets such as, but not limited to, sewers (sanitary and storm), water mains, piping installation, repair and maintenance of culverts and manholes, assisting with water main, water valve, water service and fire hydrant maintenance requirements and related activities.
- Assist employees with duties involving physical labour related to maintenance and repair of Municipal assets such as, but not limited to, wastewater mains, valve chambers, piping installation, repair and maintenance of laterals and manholes, cleaning and camera inspections of infrastructure, assisting with preventative and corrective maintenance duties related to pumping stations and treatment facilities (equipment, buildings and grounds) and related activities.
- Available to respond to ‘call-outs’ to perform duties related to the applicable division.
- Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and demonstrate his/her understanding that his/her personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the division Manager or designate.
